Since the mid-2011, DLBS (Dexa Laboratories of Biomolecular Sciences) began to establish his role in providing eligible qualified products which is for bioactive fraction by doing preparation for certification of ISO 22000:2005 - Food Safety Management Systems. It is the international standard that is specific for the food safety management systems to be consumed by human. Until now, the BFS team (Bioactive Fraction Safety) which is chaired by Mr. Meta Adityawarman Noviandi has contributed significantly to meet the safety requirements and product quality as outlined in clause of ISO 22000:2005. The requirements include the production processes, materials used, and employee responsible, as well as the adopted enterprise systems, namely DIS-DLBS.
In addition, DLBS also improves the quality of pre-clinical studies by meeting the requirements of AAALAC system (Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care). This system regulates matters related to the animal welfare, including how the treatments to the test animals are conducted, i.e. their housing and food and research methods. The veterinarians in DLBS, incorporated in Animal Pharmacology section, have studied and followed the requirements of the system, and apply them in their research activities.
Preparations for both certifications have shown great results which are evaluated in periodical audit by internal auditors and consultants. In the near future, audit from the elected ISO 22000:2005 and AAALAC certification bodies will be conducted and it is expected that from these audits, DLBS will be ISO 22000:2005 and AAALAC certified.
