Soil is rich in culturable and unculturable microbes. Though microbes are small and cannot be observed by naked eyes, they have the potential to be a source of drug development. In DLBS, we study these microorganisms and turn them into block-buster medicinal products. While soil is rich in minerals, many bacteria living in it are not readily culturable in the laboratories. We use specific metagenomic methodologies to collect them in the form of DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid). This genomic collection is a repository of numerous enzymes and proteins that are beneficial to human beings. |
