Indonesia as a country with the second largest biodiversity in the world has a great potential in the development of natural resources, which have pharmacological effects. Unfortunately, this potentiality is still hidden and untapped optimally. Dexa Laboratories of Biomolecular Sciences (DLBS), with the philosophy, Life for Life, is committed to utilize these natural resources in order to improve the quality of life and health aspect in Indonesia.
One of the realizations of DLBS’ commitment is by building a production facility for active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) generated from natural resources. This commitment is appreciated by Indonesian government by giving permit for Industri Ekstrak Bahan Alam (IEBA) [Industry of Natural Extract]. IEBA for DLBS-PT Dexa Medica is the first IEBA that was given to a pharmaceutical industry since the Regulation of Ministry of Health Regulation No. 006 Year 2012, about Industry and Traditional Medicine Business, was issued. This is certainly a tangible manifestation of the government’s support for DLBS commitment.
Certificate of IEBA to DLBS-PT Dexa Medica is officially given by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, dr. Nafsiah Mboi, Sp.A, MPH. At the same time, the Minister of Health personally gave her appreciation to PT Dexa Medica. “At this special occasion, I would like to congratulate and show appreciation to PT Dexa Medica for their initiative and commitment in the development of research-based pharmaceutical industry as well as production of API from Indonesian natural resources”, she said. She also expressed a sense of pride and admiration for the young scientists for their dedication in research and development of DLBS products and also encourage them to never give up.
By obtaining IEBA, followed by CPOTB (GMP for traditional medicine), Halal Certification, ISO 22000:2005, HACCP, and AAALAC certifications, DLBS show the commitment in developing pharmaceutical products from Indonesia’s natural resources with high quality and in accordance with the current system and regulations. Moreover, DLBS integrate the result of scientific research with the production system that emphasizes on the product quality and safety to achieve health for all.
